The Rice Debacle

In Shutdown, I didn't post about my dinner because the experience warrented it's own post.  After work, my stomach was screaming "FEED ME FEED ME."  Since I was too tired to cook and didn't want any of the leftovers, I decided to the new Greek restaurant that opened in Downtown Plymouth - Platko's (so new, there's no website).

I go in and after looking through their small menu, I decided on Lemon Oregeno chicken which comes with two sides (I choose hummous and greektown green beans) and an order of grape leaves.  I figure I would have half of everything for dinner and the rest for lunch tomorrow.  As I wait for my order, another order comes in by phone in which the customer wanted "a little bit of rice." The cook and the cashier proceeded to argue on whether or not the cashier should have charged extra.  The cook saw me sitting at the tables and asked "Is this for her?" and the cashier said no.

I get my food and head on home.

Ok, I've taken a poll around my office today and everyone agreed that just like with Chinese, Mexican, or any other ethnic cuisine where rice is a staple food in most dishes, restaurants tend to overload the take out boxes with rice.  Correct?

Check out the plate.  Everything on it is half of the order . . .except for the rice!  That is all i got!  For $11.95 I got barely a scope of rice to go with my two pieces of chicken breast!  Now, don't get me wrong, the food was delicious, but seriously!?

I did have half a mind to go back to the restaurant with this picture and asked if this is why the other caller asked for "a little bit" more rice. . .because you get jipped if you don't!  However, after an emotionally exhausting Wednesday evening and Thursday day . . I just didn't have the fire inside me.

So, if you decide to go to Platko in Downtown Plymouth, please do not go expecting an abundance of rice.  That or hope that someone didn't piss off the cook before your order is made!

I did enjoy this dinner with my last bottle of wine from the Traverse/Leelanau Winery tour trip
This was the last bottle that we bought on the wine tour.  To be honest, I was quite tipsy when i bought it, so I do not remember how it tasted.  It was goooood.  Very sweet though.

Thus ends the Rice Debacle.
