Trial run

I had promised myself that I would wait until I get my new camera before I started to blog in more detail in the "On the healthy living front" part of this blog.  However, I am impatient.  I've been using my Palm Centro camera in order to get in the habit of taking pictures of what I'm eating.  So I thought that maybe I would take a stab at this!

Here goes . . .

On the healthy living front:
Even though I went to bed early (10:00 pm), I had a hard time waking up when my alarm went off at 6:30 am.  But I dragged myself out of bed and got ready for my day.  However, I was dragging a bit, so I didn't have time to make coffee or eat breakfast.  So once I got to campus, I stopped at the Espresso Royale by my building and picked up a small coffee.

I poured 1/2 Royale decaf and 1/2 Solidario coffee (fair trade coffee) into my small cup and added 2 packets of Sugar in the Raw and creamer (yeah, I can't do the skim milk . . i try, but it's not the same!).  The treat that you see next to my coffee is a granola bar that I made ala Graduate Meghann's post.  Unfortunately, I think I got the recipe from a very early post of her's, so I can't find the page.  I will post the recipe soon.

Once I got to work, I was a busy bee in the morning.  Friday's are actually busy for me because I work on an e-mail newsletter that is sent out to students, faculty, and staff of the program that I work for.  It pretty much takes all morning to do it because I'm working in html code.

In the midst of my editing and coding, I was in need of a snack.
Enter a delicious apple that Marcin (my fiancee) gave me when he left for his business trip two weeks ago.  Note that I didn't touch the apple until today .  .the day he comes back!

And what goes well with a juicy delicious apple:

Dark chocolate peanut butter, of course! (Shameless plug for one of the healthy living blogs that i follow!  Thank you Blogger Boy!)  I'm attempting to drink more water, so I always fill up my water with 500 ml of water and challenge myself to finish it during the rest of the work day.  You'd be amaze at how easily you forget to take a sip of water!

After a meeting, it was time for lunch.

This is leftover Lemony-Garlicky Tuna & Quinoa Salad that I made on Sunday.  I've added almonds and sunflower seeds to it for a little bit more crunch!  It was delicous!  My first taste of quinoa . .and it did not disappoint.

I had a pile on my desk that I needed to get through!  2 hours later, I made a major dent into it!

I gave myself a treat for this accomplishment.
2 White cheddar rice cakes with dark chocolate peanut butter!  De-lish!

On the fashion front:
Totally rocking a new outfit.  I forgot to take a picture of myself before I left.  But I'm rocking my new pair of skinny jeans, my new wedge boots (you can read about these purchases here), a green turtle neck, and a black vest.  I think I look like a rock star.  However, one of my co-workers said that I looked like a pirate.  I'm going to take this as I look like a  "rough, tough, and chic" pirate.

On the running front:
Tomorrow, I planned a couples massage for Marcin and I.  Last time I got a massage, it helped out my knees tremendously!  I hope that in these final weeks of rehabilitation, I'm able to get my knee in fighting shape for a slow entrance into the world of running!  Watch out trails . . here I come!

Whew . .that was ALOT of work!  But still enjoyable!
