Sorry I've been M.I.A. I do not have internet at my apartment (cost saving measure) and Marcin hasn't been able to get the cable and internet set-up at the new house because of his business trips. Hopefully that will be rectified in the near future! For now, Monday's post are going to be a whopper of a post. I think for today, I'm going to break them up into three seperate posts!
Pseudo V-Day indulgence Part One
After work, I went straight to the new house to jump start this romantic weekend that I planned for Marcin and I. He wasn’t here for Valentines Day, so I created a pseudo V-day festivities for us upon his return.
The evening started out with this:
I had gone to Holiday Market and the wine guy there help me select a great bottle of Chianti for a great price! The rest of the evening went off without a hitch! It was nice to have him back home.
On the healthy living front:
The next morning we woke up and cooked a delicious, healthy breakfast. I had stocked the fridge with eggs, egg whites, green onions, cheese, whole grain bread and parsley. I had planned on waking up before him and cook him breakfast, but he wanted to help.
In the bowl:
3 eggs
½ cup of egg whites
2 green onion
Feta cheese
Mexican blend cheeses
1 handful of parsley
Pepperoni
salt, pepper, and paprika (he likes things spicy!)
Marcin took the helm of making the omelets since he has better luck with flipping it than I do!
See his nice handy work.
We each a piece of whole grain bread with philly cream cheese (low fat) on top! He added hot sauce to his omelet and I added ketchup
Can you tell it was good? We are actually surprise at how good it was. I think it was missing tomato, Marcin thought it needed more cheese and pepperoni.
I had scheduled for us to get a couples massage in the afternoon. Since we woke up early and since the water heater decided to break the night before, we made a stop at the friendly neighborhood Home Depot.
Ok so here is where I’m going to let my tomboyish side take over. While Marcin was talking with the Home Depot guys on how to fix the water heater, I started looking at the tools. I heart tools! Marcin joined me and I kept saying how I would like a rachet screwdriver, but couldn’t find any. On our way out I found a small rachet screwdriver set! Marcin bought it for me!
I put it to good use once we got back to the place. There are numerous screws in many of the walls left by the previous owner.
OK, off my tomboy soap box.
So, after Marcin did a temporary fix on the water heater, we left for our massage. It was nice and relaxing and Marcin (who was very skeptical at first) actually found it very relaxing. I think that the massage helped out my knee tremendously too. I do not feel any pain walking up and downstairs as I have been for the past couple of weeks. A couple more weeks and I will be back into the running game!
After our massage, I stopped at the florist to pick up something for our wedding (more on that later). I was feeling all nice and relaxed from the massage, I decided to continue this day of indulgence by picking up something from this local Italian bistro Nico & Vali. I picked up a vegetable lasagna and a cup of their pasta fagioli soup.
It was delicious, but I regretted it an hour later. The lasagna just sat heavy in my stomach. I had planned an outing in Ann Arbor for Marcin and me in the evening, so I thought that I ruined my appetite with the lasagna. I drank lots-o-water to try to flush it out of my system.
Note to self if you have an evening of indulgence planned, don’t indulged too much during the day.
On the fashion front:
Nothing really to report. I really need to start taking pictures of myself in my outfits for this section!
On the running front:
It was painful not to enjoy the 40 degree weather that Michigan was having this weekend. Everywhere I went, I saw people running or jogging. But, I knew that my knee needed time to heal and the massage really helped it out. Occasionally I would test out my knee and do my "drop it like it's hott!" move. So far, there is only a twinge of tightness. I'm thinking one more yoga session and maybe some time on the elliptical, and I should be back to a slow introduction into the world of running!
