Today was part two of my sister's birthday. You may remember that Part one of Sherry's birthday was a night on the town in Ann Arbor. But on that night, I didn't give her my birthday present. My gift was tickets to see the Detroit Symphony Orchestra presenting Bond and Beyond with Michael Krajewski as conductor for this performance.
Breakfast:
I woke up early to blog while Marcin made breakfast.
Waffle sandwich with over-easy egg, colby jack cheese, two slices of turkey bacon and one slice of turkey bacon on the side.
I took Sherry to a matinee show. I picked her up and we went a little camera crazy because we had coordinating outfits (it happens sometimes without us even trying).
OK, so maybe it was my mom who got a little picture crazy! LOL! (Please ignore the explosion of pink in my parent's living room. It's been the same color since we moved in when I was in the third grade. I've begged my mom to change it, but she likes the color!)
The Detroit Symphony Orchestra was A.W.E.S.O.M.E. Not only did they performed music from James Bond, but they also played music from Spiderman, Superman, Peter Gunn, Pink Panther, and Mission Impossible! I'm thinking of downloading the James Bond and Mission Impossible theme song. I felt such a great energy from the music, I thought that it would be great music to run through. Plus, both are the action film genre, so I can see myself pretending I'm in a great chase and have to run for my life. Could help motivate me to maintain my pace!?
The best part of the night - a original concerto featuring a cellphonist. Yes that's right, the conductor lead the orchestra in a concerto with one of the main instruments - various cellphones with different ring tones. As the conductor said, "It's the blending of cell phone technology [an annoyance in live performances] and art in a interesting and meaningless way!" LOL!
Next month, they will be doing the music of Andrew Loyd Webber! I really want to go! Did I mention that my birthday is in less than a month away?! HINT HINT
After the show, Sherry & I went to Bravo Cucina Italiana for dinner. Hey Sherry, what did you think of the performance?
For dinner, I had one of the spring specials,
Pesce Puttanesca (Pan seared Fish del Giorno on a bed of angel hair pasta tossed with extra virgin olive oil, garlic, crushed red pepper and basil with housemade Puttanesca sauce and fresh herbs)
I like the portion size of this dish. I also love angel hair pasta. I paired this with a Flirtini.
I hearts martini drinks!
I dropped Sherry off at my parent's house and headed home. I stopped at Plato restaurant for dessert. Sherry and I were too stuffed after dinner to order one at the restaurant, but by the time I got home, I was craving something sweet.
I got to the house and started blogging. I wanted to digest a little bit more of my food before I dug into dessert.
There is really no good way to shoot rice pudding huh?
I really didn't like this batch of rice pudding, so Marcin actually help me eat it. Now, I'm catching up on my blogs and watching Black Hawk Down. Interesting combo. Actually, it's very similar to Marcin playing his X box games while I blog. He likes a lot of military first person shooter games.
On the healthy living front:
I know that I lost weight when one of the first things out of my mom's mouth is "Are you eating!?" On the flip side, I know I gained a little weight when one of the first things out of my mom's mouth is "Are you working out?" LOL! Luckily, today it was the previous question. I used to get offended at both questions, but now I decided that I would use them as measures of my healthy living. If I get question #1, then I'm doing a good job of maintaining my healthy weight. If I get questions #2, then maybe I've been slacking a bit and need to up my game. Sometimes, you just have to turn the negativity into something positive and productive and take ownership of it. That way it doesn't hold you know.
On the fashion front:
Love my outfit!?
Dress and belt are from Marshall's! Paired with my skinny jeans and black heels. I know that I should have paired this dress with leggings . .but I just couldn't bring myself to buy a pair. Flashback to the 80's keep swimming in my head and I just have to say no!
Also like my coat?
I finally found a coat that fits me well! Usually I have to get a slightly bigger coat because of my broad shoulders and then I look like I'm swimming in fabric!
On the running front:
I may not have ran this weekend, but I'm sore! I'm thinking of changing this section to On the active living front since I'm doing a multitude of different activities outside of running. While running is my main form of exercise, I also do yoga and have added (slowly) strength training exercises. Also, we've been doing loads of things at the house that is just as good as an exercise, so I can report on that. Yep, I'm making that executive decision . . .right . . .now!
Happy Sunday Night Folks! Get some rest, tomorrow is Monday!
