Happy Birthday to you . . . You're still young

It was my sister's birthday on Saturday!  While she won't get my present till next Sunday, Marcin and I wanted to wine and dine her on her actual birthday.  Saturday was a pretty big deal:
1) Sherry turns 30!
2) She was our first house guest (even though our house is still in dissary!)
3) We checked out a new restaurant in Ann Arbor
4) We enjoyed some delicious desserts!

To start the day:
Breakfast:
As promised (um, to ourselves) - leftover tiramisu

Marcin and I scrambled to make sure the house was guest ready!  Stopped by Le'Target for a shower curtain for the guest bathroom! I also bought us a shoe cubby for one of our smaller, and most used closets!  I put the shoe cubby (sorry no picture due to the frantic "we need to tiddy up the place" mode that Marcin put us in!) together using my rachet set!  The tomboy in me was very happy and content with this project!

Sherry (my sister) came over at about 3 and off to the mall we went.  I love shopping with my sister.  We hit the Express sales with our coupons and tore it up!  Well, not really, but we got what we were looking for.  She needed some accessories for her birthday outfit and I needed more staple pieces to my transition wardrobe.

Got back to the house, chilled a bit (Marcin gave my sister a "Tour of what we did to the house since she was last there" LOL!) and then got ready!

Check out our outfits for the evening!

I'm rocking my new boyfriend jacket that I got at Express and Sherry is rocking the interesting necklace that she bought from Express as well!

While we waited for Marcin to get ready (basically 10 minutes), we played with the camera:
Obligatory sister shot self portrait

My sister is so cute, she set an alarm on her phone to go off at the exact time she was born.
Of course I captured the moment!  In this picture, my sister officially turned 30!  Can you believe it?

Of the trio we go to our dinner destination - Melange Bistro, a Euro-Asain fushion place in Ann Arbor>

This place was schnazzy!  The decor was sort of upscale 70's lounge.

First order of business = DRINKS!
Sherry and I got the Lychee Martini

While Marcin embraced the 70's vibe and enjoyed a glass of Remy Martin!

For dinner, I decided on a appetizer and one sushi roll.  Sherry, craving spicey foods, went with 2 spicey sushi rolls!

My dinner:
Beef Carpaccio.  I actually shared this with both Sherry and Marcin.

Marcin ordered calamari for us to share as well.
Both were delicious!

Next up came my sushi - I ordered the Spicy Tune roll.

And since everyone knows how obsessed I am with purses, check out the new clutch bag that I advised my sister to buy today!
Thank Aldo Accessories for having the perfect clutch bag that can go with a day and evening outfit!  This Girlie Tomboy Approves!

Marcin enjoyed the Flank Steak Salad:

LOL!  He loves the camera!
Sherry enjoyed her sushi:

My second round of drinks:
It was ok, a bit dry and tart for my liking.  I constantly had to stir the drink before each sip.

Dinner and conversation was much enjoyed at Melange, but the birthday girl wanted a decandent dessert.  So off we went to La Dolce Vita (which was 4 doors down from Melange!) (No website link as it appears to be broken!).

First up, once again, DRINKS!

Sherry trying different Sherrys (LOL!  Sherry did not like any of the Sherrys that they had.  Ironic!) and port, but settled on a Espresso Martini.

I had French Coffee:

The rest of the night was spent taking pictures and great conversation - between the three of us and the bar tender (I think he was trying to hit on one of us, but couldn't tell which one of us was with Marcin!)
Birthday girl sat in the middle (ergo the bartender's confusion)
Clutches of the evening!

I did say that we went to La Dolce Vita for some decandant dessert.  I had the Chocolate Caramel Tart (YUMS!) and Sherry had the Strawberry Rhubarb bread pudding (also YUM!)

My two favorite people on the entire planet!

Thus ends a very eventful Saturday.  I leave you with this psychedelic  pictures that the Bar tender accidentally took before the one above.
No photoshop required!
