Painting the trim only really took about an hour, so before moving on to the next project (installing a new curtain rod and new curtains), we paused for dinner.
Saturday Dinner:
After watching the season finale of Spartacus, I was inspired to create a dinner that was sort of indicative of the time. In one of the scenes, one of the main characters was giving his last big meal before the fight. It was basically bread and other finger foods. At a feast, countless tapas-like plates were on displayed. Throughout the day, I kept think of Mediterranean type finger foods for what I'm calling "I am Spartacus" feast.
Here is what I came up with:
One plate of tomato and mozzarella with a thin slices of capicola salami
One bowl of hummus with dill pickles
Slices of Kasseri cheese and thin capicola salami
Sauteed zucchini and spinach with tomato slices
I kept the seasonings on all plates simple:
Black Pepper, salt, and Extra Spicy salt free Mrs. Dash.
A bowl of seedless green grapes with blackberries
All laid out:
A feast fit for the Elite Romans . . .or an inspired Filipina and her Polish fiancee! Marcin had a huge loaf of ciabatta bread that we each had a forth of.
The rest of the night was spent hanging a new curtain in our dining room. We actually had to make a second trip to Home Depot because the curtain rod that we bought was not a double rod as the Home Depot Employee said it was. We returned the curtain rod and then went to Bed, Bath, Beyond (again) and bought a better one at a lower cost!
On the healthy living font:
I'm actually proud of this dinner. I realize that in total, it's high in fat, but this dinner felt light. We didn't feel overly stuffed and it gave us energy to get through the rest of the night's projects.
On the fashion font:
I forgot to post Friday's outfit:
Royal purple two piece tank and lace blouse with black dress pants.. Apologies for the frustrated look on my face. For some strange reason, I couldn't take a good or clear picture.
Saturday was T-shirt and jeans day, nothing too exciting but on my Bed, Bath, & Beyond, I did pick up two beauties:
Real Simple Shoe Organizer (I think that this is new because I couldn't find it online)
(I really do have more shoes than this. These are the ones that I had moved to the house because I won't be wearing them any time soon)
(To date, I have 11 purses, 3 clutches, 3 wallets. . . .As someone how is obsessed with purses, I think I'm in need of more!)
On the running front:
No run this weekend because of all of the house projects. I did get a good workout with all the painting and moving things around. We were moving furniture around as we painted the trim in the living room. While we have sliders on everything, some of the pieces are pretty hefty. My running will resume on Monday!
