It's been a easy couple of days and I wouldn't have it any other way! Monday night, I participated in an interesting TweetChat with other Featured Editors from Foodbuzz.com. The theme of the Tweetchat was healthy snacking. There was a lot of discussion of what people ate for snacks in general or before/after a workout. Lots of my favorites were mentioned - Greek yogurt, peanut butter, and bananas. With all that talk, I knew exactly what I wanted for breakfast the next day.
Tuesday
Breakfast
Whole Wheat Waffle with Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter and a half Banana
Business as usual at work. I had a mid-morning snack of string cheese to get me through the morning. Before long, it was a little past lunch. I took advantage of the cool sunny day and walked around for a bit. I stopped at Bruegger's Bagels and got and old fashion bagel and cream cheese.
Lunch
Egg bagel with Smoked Salmon Cream Cheese
Went back to the daily grind and ended my day at 5! Went home, changed clothes and headed to the gym with Marcin. While he lifted weights I completed my first attempt at Speed Workout #2 ala Self's Training Schedule. More on that later. After a quick shower, it was off to Pint Night for dinner.
Dinner
Cup of chili and sweet potato fries.
There may have been a Cookie Blitz dessert that was split between Marcin and I. It was a fun night.
Wednesday
Even though it was my day off, I had to get up early for a meeting in Ann Arbor. That's how dedicated I am, I go to networking meetings on my day off! It actually gave me an opportunity to check out Kerrytown. On Wednesdays, they host a Farmers Market. I wish I would have known or I would have bought some cash to purchase some local groceries! My goal is to go once before the summer is over. At my meeting, I was treated with Ginger Lemon Tea and it was delicious. It actually tasted more like a ginger chai latte, but I digress.
After my meeting, I went home to change (I was in business casual and desperately wanted to be in casual) and ran errands. Then it was off to meet up with an old friend of mine. He films the graduation ceremonies for my academic program and he needed to drop off the DVD copies. We met up at Applebee's. I was good and had the Spicy Shrimp Diavolo. I tried to take a picture of my lunch but all the shots ended up very blurry. :( Trust me, it was delicious and spicy. Lunch lasted 2 hours as most of the time was spent playing catch up on life and stuff!
Afterwards, I went grocery shopping to pick up some much needed supplies. I also picked up something I have been tempted to try for awhile now.
Of course, I had some as soon as I came home. I needed a pre-workout snackage!
Mixed it with Cascadian Farm Multigrain Squares
I have one thing to say - yummy yum yummers!
I waited a bit before I changed to go the gym. Today on the docket - Strength training. I had my tunes and my game face on and pumped iron (in the Arnold Schwarzenegger accent of course).
When I got home, I got started on dinner. Tonight I planned a Filipino dish - Tapsilog.
Dinner
It's traditionally a Filipino breakfast dish, but I like to make it for dinner instead. The dish includes the following:
- 1 lb of marinaded beef steak slices
- Fried egg
- Rice
Yums! I think next time, I will actually try the traditional way of making this dish (garlic fried rice and a different marinade for the meet). I will also tenderize the meat a bit so that it would stay juicy.
After dinner, Marcin lit up the fire pit to make s'mores on this cool Michigan evening. Mmmmmmm S'mores. Now we are chillin for the night.
Relaxing end to this Hump Day!
On the healthy living front:
I like that Applebees have made more of effort to provide healthy dishes on their menu. The Spicy Shrimp Diavolo is listed as a "Under 550 Calories" dish. The dish itself was spicy, light, and filling without that "Oh I'm so stuffed" feeling. All in All - Thumbs Up!
On the fashion front:
Today is the last day with my Coach purse. So goodbye Coach:
Goodbye Coach
Tune into tomorrow for July's purse!
On the active front:
Tuesday - Speed Workout #2
Warm up for 1 mile at a speed of 5.5
Hard run for 2 minutes at a speed of 6.5
Easy run for 2 minutes at a speed of 5.5
Hard run for 2 minutes at a speed of 6.5
Easy run for 2 minutes at a speed of 5.5
Hard run for 2 minutes at a speed of 7.0
Easy run for 2 minutes at a speed of 5.0
This should take to a little over 2 miles!
This speed workout was a little bit easier than Speed Workout #1! I sort of wish I did this one first! I also like the fact that I was able to hold the 7.0 run for 2 minutes. I may change my Pyramid Run because of this new development.
Wednesday - Sculpt my guns and wail on my pecs - aka Strength Training (Anybody remember that line from American Beauty?)
I did my strength training workout, but in reverse since I never seem to get to the last workouts.
20 Secs of Side Planks
30 Secs of Plank
3 sets of Knee Up Crunches w/ 3 sets of Torso Twists with Rope
3 sets of 15 of Hip Abductions at 50 lbs w/ 3 sets of Hip Adductions at 50 lbs
3 sets of 12 of Leg Extensions at 40 lbs w/ 3 sets of 12 of Leg Curls at 40 lbs
3 sets of 12 Overhead Press at 20 or 30 lbs
3 sets of 15 Lat Pull downs at 50 lbs
3 sets of 12 Chest Press on a Ball (or Bench) with 10 lb dumbbells
It felt great to go through the routine.
Well, my eyelids are fighting with me and demanding to close, so it is off to bed I go!
Good night all!
