Guest Post Weekend - Michigan Birthday!!!

Hello everyone! My name is Brooke, and I run a little blog called Brookies Cookies & More. Jessica asked me to be her guest blogger this week, and I'm quite flattered!

I must be honest and tell you that it was rather hard for me to come up with something that I'm obsessing about right now. I've been in a rather "blah" mood for the last week or so (I blame Daylight Savings Time!), and haven't really felt like myself. I think I'm starting to snap out of it though. We have a rather big event coming up here quickly that requires me to throw a party. No, it's not Thanksgiving. It's my husband's thirtieth birthday! Not only does he turn the big 3-0 on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, but he's turning thirty on the most important day of a Wolverine's year: The University of Michigan vs. Ohio State game. Oh yeah. It's a big deal.

There's nothing like planning and hosting a party to bring me back to feeling like myself. I *love* being the hostess.

I love everything from finding or creating the perfect invitations...

...to buying the perfect serving pieces (from Von Maur)...

...to finding great deals for the menu. We have a local pizza place that gives out coupons for free breadsticks, salad, and a 2L of soda just for buying any size pizza. Oh yeah, you've got to love a deal like that!

I even have some M shaped pasta I might use for pasta salad.

I'm most excited to use the Michigan napkins my cousin got us last year. I haven't had the perfect opportunity to use them. Until now that is...

I truly believe that the details make a party. Of course, you can certainly have a great party without thinking about every. single. detail.

All you really need is good company, but isn't more fun when it's all pulled together with cute football shaped dishes? No? Is that just me? ;)
