On the Beauty Front - Sephora Samples Review Part Three

Whew. . . Can you believe that I'm still working my way through the plethora of samples that Sephora sent me with my recent purchase!

Well on to the next set!

Holy Expensive Lotion Batman!

From the website:  "Kinerase Daily Defense Lotion SPF 30 defends the skin against the harsh rays of the sun with the added benefit of active ingredient kinetin, a powerful antioxidant scientifically proven to visibly diminish the appearance of fine lines wrinkles by enhancing skin's ability to maintain 25% more moisture."

My Thoughts:  This was actually pretty good as both a moisturizer and sunscreenIt did have a hint of that metallic sunscreen scent.  The first day I wore it under my make up was fine.  I did have to blot my face in the afternoon.  The second day, my skin broke out a little bit.  I ran out of the sample to see how day 3 would be like.  All in all, it was an ok product.  I would probably want to test it out during the summer months, which in Michigan, is very humid.  That would be the best test for this product.  But many dermatologist recommend wearing sunscreen all year round and if you are looking for one that works well with combo/oily skin.  This could be up your alley (if you can shell out that kind of cash).

Product Grading:
Texture:  A Your typical sunscreen feel without the greasiness
Scent: A-  Slight hint of "Hey, I'm wearing sunscreen!"
Staying Power: N/A I don't think I could really grade on this since it is winter.  I think I could grade this in the summer when I'm more active outdoors . .and at the beach!
Overall: A-  Not a bad product, just the wrong season for a good review

From the website:  "De-Slick in a Tube provides oil control and oil-absorbing action in an easy-to-use formula. The gel is completely color-neutral, so it works great on naked skin, under foundation, or over makeup. It's formulated to help tighten your pores for a youthful, shine-free finish. It's a great compact-free alternative to stay shine-free day or night!"
My Thoughts:  De-Slick?  More like De-ICK!  Oh, it absorbed the oil alright . . .and left my face all sticky!  Where as the Smashbox and the Sephora primer left this soft silk feel on your skin, this Urban Decay primer left my skin feeling like the sticky side of scotch tape.  Out of the tube the primer looks and feels like a cross between a cream and a Vaseline.  But when you spread the primer on your face, it sops up the oil and then some.  If I patted my face after application, my hand would stick!  YUCK!  Outside of that, it did keep my make up in place and I did not need to blot my face later in the day.

Texture:  C The product is ok right out of the tube, but when you work it into the skin = YUCK!
Scent: N/A
Staying Power: A It kept my make up in place.
Overall: B-  I really want to give a lower grade, but the primer did it's job, it just left a horrible feeling once you apply it on.

In December, Marcin and I went out to celebrate our 6 year dating anniversary.  I took the occasion to try out the rest of the make up samples that I had.

Benefit High Beam ($24.00 for 0.45 oz)

From the website:  "Benefit High Beam is an ethereal pink liquid highlighter that creates a radiantly dewy complexion. For an angelic sheen, this pink shimmering lotion adds a soft, natural afterglow."

My Thoughts: I've actually tried this product before.  I've always loved it.  Done right, you can look like your glowing.  Done badly, and you look like you are a sweaty mess.  I'm actually a little disappointed that they gave me such a small sample with order.
Product Grading:
Texture:  A It has a bit of a nail polish texture but more leans slightly more to a liquid.
Scent: A Subtle scent
Staying Power: B I always found that this product wears off by the end of the night.  Of course a majority of the time I was a hot, sweaty mess from dancing.
Overall: A If my social calendar ever involves more formal outings, I would definitely invest in this.

Sorry, I can't seem to find the pallet that this is related to so I can't give you a price or a website description.

My Thoughts: It was really hard to pick up any of the colors with my brushes.  I used them all up while getting ready for my date with my hubby.  Even then, I really don't think you can see any of the colors.  You be the judge:

I would be unfair to grade this product because the sample package that it came in was not good.  So I would just chalk it up to a fun free sample.

So you would think that with three posts I would be done right?  Nope, I have to face gels and perfume samples still left to go.  I do have one more foundation sample, but it is in Light, and I am anything BUT light!  Anyone want to volunteer and do a review for me?  Anyone?

Happy Hump Day folks!  :)

So interesting about the urban decay stuff! From what I hear they tend to have pretty good products! Thanks for trying it out so I didn't waste my money on it thinking it would help this girl out! Can't wait to read your other reviews!! Maybe one day you'll get a sample of La Mer ;)
